He was born in 1929 and died in 2011 at the age of 82, he was best known for his role of Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart in classic who and he also recently made an appearance in the Sarah Jane Adventures. A sad day for the who world R.I.P, thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Cannot believe this. Feel genuinely sad now. But my thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP Nicholas Courtney. You will be missed, and we will never forget you. Sad

He will truly be missed. He played a big role in Doctor Who's history, he was in at least one episode with every classic Doctor (including the McGann audio series) and its a great shame to have lost him. It would have been great to see him in action again in the 50th anniversary, but 81 years is a great run. What a wonderful chap, in his own words! And as my friend put it, "he's in a better place now - the big TARDIS in the sky."
